Origins
ZOE Broadcasting Network
- Main article: ZOE Broadcasting Network
The network was formed when the frequency rights of Channel 11 in Manila was given to a joint venture of the influential religious groups El Shaddai headed by Bro. Mike Velarde and Jesus Is Lord Movement headed by Bro. Eddie Villanueva in mid 1990s. In the year 2000, ZOE broadcasted the 24-hour Business channel CNBC Asia.
Citynet Television
- Main article: Citynet Television
GMA Network decided to expand its business into UHF programming in 1995 with Citynet Television 27. Poised to compete with ABS-CBN's recently launched Studio 23, the new station also aired popular American programming.. In 1999, Star TV leased the airtime of Citynet Television to launch Channel [V] Philippines. In 2001 however, Channel [V] Philippines was discontinued when the PLDT (owner of MTV Philippines) bought a controlling stake in GMA. Citynet reverted to being an independent station after the discontinuation.
Blocktime agreement
In the first quarter of 2005, Citynet leased the airtime of ZOE's flagship station, DZOE-TV 11, in exchange of an upgrading the facilities of ZOE and airing a ZOE-TV produced program on early Monday mornings. Channel 27 became a repeater of QTV. Although in some areas in Metro Manila, QTV can be seen clearer in channel 27 compare in channel 11 especially in areas like Makati and Pasay (Whereas UHF signals can penetrate buildings compare to VHF signals).
On March 12, 2007, the network became only known as "Q".
